Purpose of participation
To help create & cultivate an inclusive space for all fields and subfields of anthropology with a focus on bringing underrepresented, intersectional, and multicultural dialogue to the public.
My vision for Popular Anthropology Magazine
I envision PAM as a medium for underrepresented scientists & academics to find a platform and share the awesome science they do with the public! A space to connect with our communities & provide resources like potential jobs, outreach opportunities, current academic events, op-eds, and spaces which will help further decolonize, and diversify our field.
Why is anthropology important to you?
Anthropology is important to me because it helped me access lenses and perspectives that I never knew existed. It helped me understand the impact and importance of unlearning & relearning even the most “established” of ideas, and further illuminated the importance of underrepresented voices & multidisciplinary approaches in the field. Overall, Anthropology is important to me because at its best, it makes me a better human, and I look forward to seeing the field grow, decolonize, and help us learn more about ourselves.
